Eindhoven’s Ruth van der Meijden was the first to cross the finish line yesterday at Flow, the first ever-running event for women.
Van der Meijden ran the 5 Kilometre race in 16.36. She is one of the Netherland’s fastest runners and has been Dutch champion several times. Rian ven den Burgt was the fastest to finish the 10 Km race. Over 900 women enrolled for this first Ladies Run, but before the runners went to their starting positions they were able to take part in a warming up given by former top skater Annemarie Thomas. She is ambassador to ‘Plan Nederland’, one of Flows charities. The organization is satisfied with the first Ladies run. Next year another will be planned as well. The goal is to attract 3 to 4 thousand participants.
