Marathon Eindhoven chooses charities

Marathon Eindhoven will be sponsoring the charities ‘The Mappa Mondohuis’ wishing tree in Waalre and a scalp-cooling device for the St. Anna Hospital in Geldrop.

Runners and sponsors will gather money this year for these charities. This was announced yesterday at the start of Foundation ‘MaraThOON’s’ fifth anniversary. At the ‘Mappa Mondohuis’, a place for seriously and chronically ill children, a concrete memorial tree will be built. For each child that has deceased while in ‘Mappa Mondo’, a glass mosaic butterfly will be hung in this tree. The device for the St. Anna Hospital can ensure that chemotherapy patients will not lose their hair while receiving treatment. The Foundation Mara ThOON was founded five years ago to annually commemorate Toon de Wit, who died as a result of cancer. He was a fan of the Eindhoven Marathon.  René Sanders, a good friend of Toons’, and also a driving force behind the foundation, died unexpectedly during the creation of Mara ThOON.
