Huge WWII bomb found

A massive bomb from the Second World War was found on Wednesday afternoon during construction work on Anthony Fokkerweg in Eindhoven

It is an American 100-pounder. As soon as the employees of the construction company discovered the bomb, they brought in the supervisor. The site was immediately cordoned off.

The Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) was quick to reach the spot. The bomb was placed in the back of a van and taken to the Oirschotse Heide. It was checked there to see if it still could go off, and indeed that was the case. The EOD then detonated the bomb in a controlled fashion.

It was quite remarkable, to say the least, that the 100-pounder was found on the site. On Tuesday it was declared that there could be ‘absolutely no bombs’ to be found on the site.
