Xavier Hackring (30) from Eindhoven is the winner of the ‘Emma ontmoet Victoria’ (Emma meet Victoria) ideas competition.
The competition was created by the municipality to generate beautiful ideas for the redevelopment of the Emmasingelkwadrant, the area between the Witte Dame and the Philips Stadion.
Hackring got the most votes with his ‘Living Lab’ plan. The idea is that during the redevelopment, new innovative insights must be included several times. In addition, Hackring has plans for doubling bicycle parking spaces in the area, especially for electric bicycles. He also wants energy to be generated from a new yet-to-be constructed city pond. The surface water will be cooled, and the heat that is thereby released will produce power. It is one of the ways to reduce natural gas consumption in the area.
City Councillor, Yasin Torunoglu, of Ruimtelijke Ontwikkeling Victoriapark (Spatial Development Victoria Park) awarded a check of EUR2.500 for this plan on Wednesday evening. The project team that is working on a new Victoria Park in the Emmasingelkwadrant is looking into how the idea can be included.
All the residents of Eindhoven were allowed to submit a plan for the competition to the municipality. A total of 25 plans were submitted.
