Quite a challenge, but VDL created a multi-charging-bay. Its ‘docking-station’ for electric busses charges seven in one go.
The company is based in Eindhoven. Its special ‘re-charge bay’ is currently being tested. Tests already proved seven vehicles can be charged in different ways at the same time. This is made possible by connecting different systems to each other.
Load capacities are now being tested. These are over 500 times greater, than currently used to charge ordinary electric passenger cars.
VDL intends to further improve its systems. The aim is to charge electric buses and trucks faster. Vehicles getting re-charged faster means these will be on the road more often and for longer periods. Longer and more frequent availability will cut costs of E-vehicles.
VDL is one of the most advanced companies when it comes to large electric transport. The company receives many orders for electric buses. It recently presented the first electric truck.
