The Eindhoven faction of List Pim Fortuyn (LPF) wants a tunnel under the city centre of Eindhoven in a further push towards a car-free city centre.
The biggest issue, that of funding, persists. After the 2018 municipal elections, LPF plans to carry out a feasibility study. According to the party, funding must come from Brussels or The Hague, with Eindhoven municipality currently facing financial issues.
Plans outline a 700m tunnel underneath the city similar to those already in place in Maastricht and Amsterdam. This will result in a car-free city centre, without the use of road blocks such as on the Vestdijk.
