Everything that makes present day British Jazz so exciting comes together in the catchy, danceable music of Sons of Kemet.

The band has a special line up with two drummers, a reed player and a tuba. Bandleader is saxophonist and clarinettist Shabaka Hutchings, (formerly) known from the Heliocentrics and voted BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist.

Their trademark is their powerful mix of different styles: Jazz, Caribbean music, African rhythms, touches of brass band music from New Orleans, Arabic scales and Albert Ayler-like cry-out solos are all jumbled up.
