There are as of yet no additional security measures planned at the Torchlight Procession (Fakkeltocht) on Christmas Eve in Eindhoven. After the attack in Berlin, Monday night at a Christmas market, the security at events is under strict examination.
The organization of the procession is still in talks with the city and police about security, but now calls for people to come, especially now. “It is the intention of terrorists to keep us afraid, to stay at home. Therefore, I would say there is even more reason to come to the Torchlight Procession.”
This year, the Torchlight Procession will be held for the 25th time. As always, Peace, Freedom and Tolerance are the key words.
The Torchlight Procession starts Saturday at a quarter past 6 at the Wilhelminaplein.
