Presentation of series of do-it-yourself designs

DIY retailer KARWEI is a Dutch Design Week (DDW) programme partner. One of the things the chain of DIY retailers will be presenting in Eindhoven is a series of do-it-yourself designs.

KARWEI will present a first during DDW: a one-off basic design collection of ten designs in total, including a table, a sofa and a bookcase. Matthijs van Ewijk, Brand Manager at KARWEI: "Each item from the series has been designed to be made from a single sheet of underlayment. Not a single scrap of wood is wasted. The designs are simple to make yourself. DDW visitors get a freeworking drawing and instructions, and can set to work immediately." The designs will only be available during Dutch Design Week.

With this initiative, KARWEI wants to start a trend for making your own furniture. Van Ewijk: "KARWEI wants to introduce DDW visitors to affordable design, and motivate them to get to work themselves at home. The collection does not include DIY kits, but sophisticated designs. All the designs are by Dedato, designers and architects."
