PSV Women against main rival, PSV U21 determine last comer’s fate

Liberation day or not, the ball has to roll. The ladies play at home against current main rival ADO Den Haag, while the U21’s can set Groesbeek back by beating Achilles’29 in their last relegation game.

Another important match for Women’s team
Six playoffs, two lost, four to go: PSV’s women’s team knows what to do. After a not so strong first season half, they came back strong after winter stoppage and reached the third position, just in time for the playoffs for the national title. Unfortunately, they lost the first two matches, against Ajax and FC Twente, the numbers one and two on the ranks. ADO Den Haag has the same amount of points as PSV, but the ladies from Eindhoven have a much better goal difference. Since points way heaviest, winning today is crucial to keep a third position.
Most of the girls are fit, the presumable line-up for tonight looks like: Christ; Sanders, Akkerman, Nouwen, Moorrees; Koopmans, Kuijpers, Van de Wetering, Folkertsma; Susanna and Lewerissa. The match starts at 19:30h, tickets cost €2,- and are available at the window of De Herdgang, one hour before kick-off.

U21 to determine fate of Achilles’29
PSV’s U21 secured their fourth position on the ranks last week. It’s their highest ranking ever since joining the Jupiler League since 2013 and the season has been a success on several levels. Achilles’29 has lots of other things on their mind. Winning today’s relegation game could still mean degredation if penultimate FC Dordrecht wins their game as well, so the tension is immense for Groesbeek and its professionals. PSV can play anyway they like, but surely want to win the game like they always do, because that’s what professional sportsmen do. The fact that they can dip Groesbeek into mourning by scoring too often doesn’t affect their sense of responsibility for the competition and they will simply start with the best eleven they’ve got at this moment.

It’s a special day for coach Pascal Jansen as well. He will take over duties as head of PSV’s youth education soon after today’s match, so he surely wants to go out with a bang and his players will want to give him the best goodbye possible to express their gratitude. On top of that, if they keep the 0, they might have the honour to have the least goals against of all 20 teams. Last but not least, it’s about prestige: so far all matches in Groesbeek were lost, so winning is a must.

Kick-off at 20:00h, line-up and updates during the match will be posted on https://twitter.com/PSV. Broadcast live at Fox Sports for members.
