Last year, four women managed to stroll out of a supermarket with two full carts of shopping for which they’d paid only €1.

The incident occurred on 7 July 2020 at an Albert Heijn in Waalre. Police shared footage of the women on Monday. That was on their investigative programme, Bureau Brabant. You can see the video clip and photos of the culprits here.

You can see how one of the women distracted a shop assistant. Two of her accomplices then slip through the gate of the self-service checkout gate. With two full carts of groceries.

Paid for a single item

A fourth woman paid for a single product, worth €1. But she couldn’t make it through the gate in time. She simply abandoned her full trolley and left the shop.

The police haven’t yet been able to catch these thieves. They’re now asking for the public’s help. People with tips can contact the police on 0800-6070 or anonymously on 0800-7000.
