A major argument has developed about a painting hanging at Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. The picture may have been stolen from a Jewish family by the Nazis.
According to the ED, a Jewish family claims the painting Blick auf Mirnau mit Kirche (View of Murnau with Church) by Wassily Kandinsky. But the Eindhoven Municipality is disputing this. Therefore, a legal battle is now being waged over the work of art. Eindhoven purchased it after the war.
According to the newspaper, the Municipality refuses to cooperate with a new request from the family. They want to determine whether this is a matter of robbery. Last year, a special committee on this subject pointed out that it could not be proven that the Nazi regime stole the painting from the family.
