De Jong signs with Sevilla, remains affiliated with PSV as an ambassador

Luuk de Jong has signed a contract with the Spanish Sevilla. The transfer has now been officially completed.

De Jong nevertheless remains connected to PSV: he has been asked to become an ambassador for the Eindhoven club. He is the fourth former player to be an ambassador. Carlos Salcido, Francisco Rodriguez and Romário preceded him. “We really had a lot of fantastic players at PSV, but some have turned out to be a bit more special for us,” says Managing Director Toon Gerbrands.

The ambassadorship is not only an honorary title, it also means in practice that PSV can rely on Luuk de Jong a number of times to represent the club. The club and player are still discussing how this will be filled in exactly.

On twitter, Luuk de Jong said goodbye to the Eindhoven fans last night. He thanked them in a comprehensive message for their support in recent years.
