The PvdA has also become the largest party in the European elections in Eindhoven. This is evident from the final result, which was made public on Sunday evening.
In total, the party of European party leader, Frans Timmermans, received around 19.5% of the votes. That is more than the national average. The second party in the city is GroenLinks, which rose sharply from about nine to 15% of the votes.
VVD, the largest party in the City Council, came third in the European elections in Eindhoven. The liberals rose from almost eleven per cent to more than 14%. The fourth party is D66. They were ‘the big loser’, as the party votes were halved from around 18.5 per cent to only 9.5%.
The parties that follow in size are CDA, 50Plus, Party for Animal Welfare, and, newcomer, Volt. This last new pro-European party received more than three per cent of the votes.
In Eindhoven, 37.5% of voters came to the polls. That is four per cent more than in 2014.
