Máxima Medical Center, together with healthcare organization Severinus, has opened an polyclinic for people with intellectual disabilities.
Adults with intellectual disabilities and their families can go here for examination, treatment or advice. There is also a special Doctor for the mentally handicapped (Arts Verstandelijk Gehandicapten (AVG)) and a behavioral expert from Severinus.
Children with an intellectual disability visit the pediatricians in the MMC up to the age of 18. Then they come under the treatment of an AVG. Previously, patients came to Severinus for this.
