There not only happened serious accidents during the weekend. Monday morning, an accident caused a trauma helicopter to land on the N2.
A car driving along the A2 ended up in the verge between lanes. What caused the car to topple several times, before landing in the ditch between A2 and N2, remains unclear.
The driver was trapped inside. He had to be freed by the fire brigade. A trauma helicopter landed on the N2. This ensured the N2 was closed in both directions. One direction of the A2 also had to be closed.
A trauma doctor treated the victim at the crash-site. The driver was then taken to hospital by ambulance. It is not clear how he is doing now. Police are still investigating the exact cause of this accident.
