Children may try out technology at the Philips Museum, during their Carnival Holidays. The museum organizes another Kids Factory.
While supervised, children from 5 to 12 years old may try to solder, saw, build and even 3D print electronic circuits. The museum calls this “Discovering the fun side of Technology”.
This year, “Museum Kids Factory” lasts from Monday 4th till Sunday 10th of March. A ticket costs two Euro. Seventy-five kids per day can take part. Tickets are sold on-line, through the museum’s website.
Carnival, Voorjaar, Krokus?
The first school holidays of a new year often coincide with Carnival. You may also come across the term “Voorjaarsvakantie” meaning spring holidays, or “Krokus vakantie” referring to the crocus bulb, which starts flowering.
This year, Dutch schools’ spring holidays may not coincide with the Carnival week. However, schools in and around Eindhoven are unlikely to stick to the nationally recommended spring holidays’ dates.
Carnival officially starts Sunday 3rd of March and continues till Tuesday 5 March 2019. Schools in the southern part of the Netherlands will close Saturday 2 March until Sunday 10 March 2019.
