A bicycle bridge in Best collapsed Monday. The bridge is the wooden one, which crossed the Wilhelmina Canal, between Terraweg and NCBweg in Best.
Two months ago, Best’s municipality decided to close the wooden bridge for all traffic. Inspections showed, it no longer met safety requirements.
A diversion was created using the Eindhovenseweg Zuid. This likely ensured nobody was injured in Monday’s collapse.
A specialised company will look into how the remains of the bridge can be removed.
