Ryanair’s pilots and cabin crew in Eindhoven may not just be fired.
The UWV (Executive Employee Insurance), has rejected the airline’s dismissal request. This is because Ryanair has not consulted with the trade unions, which is required by law. The UWV now needs the airline to meet with the trade unions to properly inform them.
Ryanair has closed its base in Eindhoven. As a result, the staff would be transferred to an airport in another city or become unemployed. It is, however, not that easy. First, the airline must convince the trade unions that there is no alternative to closing the base.
The FNV Luchtvaart (Dutch Aviation Trade Union Federation) trade union said a ‘ Social Plan’ is required of Ryanair, should the dismissal permit still be granted by the UWV.
