German Kai Strobel wins Eindhoven TROMP

Kai Strobel won the international percussion competition TROMP, Sunday. The 26-year-old German musician was awarded a prize of 15,000 euros.

The TROMP competition took place at the Eindhoven Muziekgebouw. The jury considered the winner’s performance”polished, musically intelligent and mature”.

Strobel (1992) first studied music in Stuttgart. He now studies in Austria. The international winner previously won a competition in Linz, Austria. Bulgarian Nikolay Ivanov was awarded second prize and British Elliott Gaston-Ross third.

During ten days, nearly thirty top talents competed in two rounds for eight finals in Eindhoven. In addition to cash prizes, TROMP offers the winner an extensive laureate programme. This includes concerts and master classes all over the world.
