The Fire Department has rescued three children and a father from a burning house in the district of Gestel.
The four were taken to hospital in Nijmegen for observation. The condition of the four victims is so far unknown.
The fire is believed to have originated in the living room. There seems to have been a fire in a sofa. A lot of smoke started immediately. The Fire Department was in time to rescue the four occupants from the home through the skylight. According to a spokesman, Jos van den Akker, it could have ended very differently. The exact cause is still under investigation.
Local residents were shocked. “There was a lot of smoke in the street, we, therefore, had to stay inside”, a neighbour says. “It came close; this is scaring”, an older man who lives in the street, added.
