The Gerardus-church, located in Eindhoven’s neighbourhood Stratum, will open as a fitness centre soon.
The plans to change this church into a fitness centre existed for some time. It took SportCity a while to complete all legal procedures and obtain all necessary permits.
According to the company, the renovation and conversion of the church is on schedule. The fitness centre should be ready for use on the third of December 2018.
The diocese is looking for a new use of many church buildings in Eindhoven. Partly because of the decrease in church attendance.
The Gerarduskerk is among the local churches for which a new destination has been found. SportCity runs about twenty fitness centres throughout the Netherlands.
