The organisers of Muziek op de Dommel (Music on the Dommel) have let it be known that this event will not be held this year.
According to the Festival for Classical Music, there are two reasons for this decision. There are problems with financing – the board cannot close the budget. The organisers also want a different set-up for the festival. What this will be is not yet known.
For many years, orchestras, young classical musicians, and ensembles have performed at the TU/e. This was usually done on the banks of the Dommel in early June. Last year, the festival attracted 20 000 visitors.
The organisers expect there to be another Music on the Dommel next year. An entrance fee may be charged then.
