Amnesty International Walk for Freedom

Next week, Amnesty International will celebrate liberation and freedom by organizing a sponsored walk.

Proceeds of this sponsored walk will go towards supporting Amnesty International’s work. The walk will go through Eindhoven, Vught, Schijndel and Gemert.

The human rights organization holds its sponsored walk during the national Freedom Night; from the evening of the 4th of May to the 5th of May. Amnesty International hopes this walk will make people think about the privilege of living in freedom and peace.

This walk is 60 kilometers long. It will be divided into stages. The route passes Vught concentration camp, where two minutes of silence will be observed.

Those taking part will also visit the Airborne Monument at Eindhoven. At this spot, a ceremony will also take place.

Participants will be required to donate a minimum of EUR 25. The money goes towards helping human rights defenders all around the world. These activists defend and help minority groups which are often threatened, abused, tortured and persecuted.

During the past six sponsored walks, 130 hikers took part. They raised nearly € 13,000.
