The municipality of Eindhoven and Fontys are going to collaborate on Eindhoven as ‘Smart Society’.
The idea behind ‘Smart Society’ is that technology and innovation can ensure that a city will function better. The collaboration must contribute to solving current Eindhoven issues in the administrative, social and economic fields.
The agreement focuses on concrete projects. One of these is making an application (app) that makes the online services of the municipality simpler. Another project investigates how big data can contribute to a modern society in which everyone participates.
For Fontys, collaboration is a good opportunity to connect education and practice. Diversity is also an important issue within the collaboration. Fontys wants to actively involve students with a migration background in order to offer them more opportunities.
The collaboration is at least for three years. Other parties can also cooperate during this period.
