The Ekkersrijt tunnel, under the A50, is going to be closed, temporarily, for maintenance. This will be from 30 August to 1 September, between 07:00 and 16:00. There is a detour, but it is very long.
The tunnel, which connects cyclists and pedestrians between Blixembosch with the Ekkersrijt industrial area, will undergo major maintenance. The wall “beams” are hindering traffic at the moment.
The detour runs via Aanschot-Blixemboschpad-Huizingalaan-SciencePark and Ekkersrijt. This is very long, but according to the City Council, there is no better alternative.
Since Blixemboschpad is not lit, it was decided that the Ekkersrijt tunnel would be open to traffic outside of working hours. All the work on the tunnel should be done by October.
