Ikea Nederland has assisted Onder de Wieken primary school with new furniture. These include the donation of essential furniture and toys. The initative for the donation came from the Ekkersrijt branch. The school building in Mainelaan burnt to the ground a week ago.
Pupils from Onder de Wieken primary school started school again this morning (Monday). Within a week of the fire, teachers, parents and stakeholders got a building in Calaislaan ready to continue with lessons.
There is still a great deal to be done since nothing could be saved from the old school. Ikea also supplied cupboards and chairs, which the school paid for. The furniture giant donated a large amount of free toys to the preschool. And, although Onder de Wieken looks a bit like and Ikea showroom, the school is very happy with the donation
Ikea confirmed the donation, but remains modest. The furniture giant often makes these kinds of donations, but does not want to draw attention to itself. Parents at the school were very eager to talk about the gift, which ensured that lessons could resume as normal.
