Eindhoven is getting a rainbow tunnel on 17 May to mark the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
This will be in the busy bicycle tunnel that links Kruisstraat with the centre. The tunnel will be transformed during the “Rainbow Tunnel Spray-A-Long” by graffiti artists and residents. It will be a piece of art depicting diversity, connection and tolerance.
Councillor Wedemeijer from Diversiteit and COC-chairperson Bianca van Kaathoven will be first in line with the spray cans. Thereafter, others will also get a chance to symbolically paint a piece of the tunnel.
It will be a festive event, which will take place between 15:00 and 17:00. CKE will provide the music, there will be performances by break dancer, Niek Traa, and Drents Dorp Voer will be offering non-alcoholic cocktails.
The idea for the rainbow tunnel in Eindhoven came from City Council. The municipality chose to use urban art in the the tunnel as it fits the vibe of the city.
