After three successful editions there will be no Rainbow Run in Eindhoven this year. The organisation announced this via twitter.
The organisation says it will skip this year. But here will be initiatives and activities to raise money to combat the progressive neurodegenerative disease ALS. The Rainbow Run was donating to this charity each year.
Last year the participants of the running event managed to raise €60,000 for the charity. More than four thousand runners took part in RainbowRun040. The run isn’t about the fastest time, but about fun. At different points along the course the runners are bombarded with coloured powder.
Earlier this year the RIVM, national institute for health and environment, advised against the use of coloured powders at events like Rainbow Run and Holi Festival. According to the institute the powder is bad for your health. The dust particles in the powder can cause airway problems and eye- or skin complaints.
