Silver Tulip for brothers Jan and Rob van Gijzel

Former journalist Jan van Gijzel and former mayor Rob van Gijzel received a ‘Zilveren Tulp’ (silver tulip) Wednesday night.

The brothers received the prize by the ‘Eindhovense Persclub’ (press club). The prize is for Eindhoven citizens who have brought the city into the spotlight in a positive way.

Rob van Gijzel retired after having been Mayor of Eindhoven for eight years. He was widely respected as a Mayor. Jan van Gijzel was Member of the Board at several societies in town, and he has been a member of the Eindhoven Press club for dozens of years. Besides that he was editor of the ‘Eindhovens Dagblad’ (Eindhoven newspaper).

Also Stefan de Bever and Anna-Geertje van Eert received a Silver Tulip. Stefan de Bever took over architectural office De Bever from his father Leo, who designed the Evoluon. Anna-Geertje van Eert is working for ‘Samen voor Eindhoven’ (together for Eindhoven), which brings companies and civil society organisations in the city together. Often new projects and initatives are deriving from this initiative.
