Queen Maxima will unveil a new educational program in Den Bosch tomorrow aimed at teaching students to work with big data.

A joint effort by the TU/e, Noord Brabant and Den Bosch provincial authorities, and Tilburg University, the program will focus on improving how we handle the ever-expanding amount of digital data.

TU/e professor Wil van der Aalst highlighted the erroneous polls in the US presidential election as a recent example of incorrect data handling. Too much of our attention is on the technology rather than human knowledge, says van der Aalst. One of the new program’s founders, the professor also called on the government to fund more research into data science.
