As part of the ‘Living In’ program for international knowledge workers, the Veldhoven VVV (Tourist Office) and ASML have jointly organized a special winter event: “Écht Veldhovenz ON ICE” (Real Veldhovenz ON ICE) on Friday 11th December.
Talks with international knowledge workers show that they would like to know more about typical Dutch things and they would like to try out specific Dutch customs themselves.
Can it be more Dutch than ice skating?
On Friday Dutch ASML employees will teach their international colleagues skating in a sporting and informal way during ‘Écht Veldhovenz ON ICE’. The theme is: ‘meet the skating craze of the Dutch’. Veldhoven Mayor Jack Mikkers will be present to welcome the international group, whether on skates or not.
There’s also a surprising ice skating challenge on the program, music and traditional Dutch stew (hutspot) can be enjoyed, all part of the hospitality of Veldhoven.
This activity is the Veldhoven interpretation of the ‘Living In’ program of Brainport. In the context of ‘Expats Discover Veldhoven project’, the Veldhoven VVV has also set up Welcome Tours, Family Tours, and even created a unique Local Host service to make international knowledge workers and their families quickly feel at home in Veldhoven and its surroundings.
This Friday skating event is full but the temporary skating rink in the centre of Veldhoven is open till 3 January 2016. You can check the website for more information.
