The Red Cross will open a Welcome Shop in Eindhoven too, a spokesman told Studio040. Plans are still in the early stages, with the humanitarian organization expected to begin preparations within two weeks.
In the meantime, Red Cross staff hope to meet with Eindhoven city officials to discuss a suitable storage space.
A temporary office will be set up near the building for Red Cross workers, who have undertaken co-ordination of relief efforts for refugees at the request of the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA).
Eindhoven residents will be able to deliver supplies for refugees once everything is set up, the spokesman said, adding that the Red Cross will announce what supplies are needed most. Food and supplies sent in last week from citizens all over the Netherlands turned out to be too much, causing the COA to push for improved co-ordination.
