A security guard broke his leg, following a struggle with a shoplifter on Monday.
The incident took place at a department store on the Vrijstraat. The shoplifter, an Eindhoven resident, took a pair of sunglasses without paying for them. Immediately thereafter, he was confronted by security guards but managed to get away. He then entered a drugstore with the intention of further shoplifting. As soon as he left, a struggle took place with the store’s security guards, resulting in a broken leg of one of the guards.
A plain-clothes police officer assisted by restraining the suspect until his colleagues arrived. The injured security guard was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The suspect was apprehended, pending further investigation.
