For the first time in almost twenty years, there will be no beer cantus at the end of the Intro Week of the TU/e this year. Instead, the week will end with a water spectacle. Reported by University magazine Cursor.
Last year the beer cantus was already an item. The age at which alcohol can be consumed has been increased to 18 years, and so not all new students are allowed to drink beer.
Last year was solved by pouring alcohol-free beer during the cantus, but that was no success, Board member Jo van Ham of the TU/e at Cursor says.
So after looking for an alternative the "water spectacle" was born. The different intro groups may attack each other with water balloons.
