The Philips museum is joining in with UNESCO’s worldwide initiative to celebrate the International Year of Light 2015 by presenting the #Lightislife exhibition specially for this year’s celebrations. This photo exhibition shows work by six inspirational Instagram photographers and will be opened on Thursday 16 April.
The museum’s idea in putting on this photo exhibition is to demonstrate to the public that light does not have to be purely functional; it can also create a positive feeling, making us happier, more cheerful, more relaxed.
A special section of the exhibition has been set aside for entries from the public. Anyone can show – through his/her personal Instagram, Twitter or Facebook account(s) – the impact that light has had on him/her by sending in a photo with the hashtag #lightislife.
The public can also experience for themselves the influence that light has had on photography during the kick-off of this new exhibition by taking part in the ‘Instawalk’ with Eelco Roos, currently the most famous Instagram photographer in the Netherlands.
During the Instawalk participants will experience a new way of illustrating the city of Eindhoven and the public can get to know one another and network while walking. The walk starts on Thursday 16 April at 6.00 pm and anyone who has a smartphone and an Instagram account can take part.
More information about the walk can be found at the museum’s website.
