‘Bureau Jeugdzorg’, the youth care agency in Brabant has been placed under surveillance. According to the youth care inspection, children are not protected adequately. Also the quality of the juvenile probation is less than suitable.
The findings are not entirely unexpected. At the end of last year, the agency didn’t receive a ‘keurmerk’ – a certification label – since the care was deemed inadequate.
Part of the reason the situation is not working is a lack of qualified youth workers. During a reorganization, several youth workers have left.
The youth care agency may continue to run, says the inspectorate. According to the management, the quality of work and the safety of the children is not in danger.
To improve the work methods, there are now two directors. One for East Brabant and One for West Brabant.
