Eindhoven should aim to reduce the number of toxic goods trains traveling through the city. Should that prove to be impossible, precautionary steps should be taken in order to ensure the well-being of the Eindhoven residents. This motion will be put forward by GroenLinks, the Eindhoven Green Party, next week.
Due to repair works on the rails in Germany, trains carrying toxic goods are now traveling through Eindhoven, taking the so called Brabant Route. Apparently, the number of these trains is going to increase at the beginning of next year.
The Eindhoven Green Party is displeased with this turn of events. It calls the supervisory board to take action with board members and citizens in order to reduce the number of these trains. Should the action fail, the Green Party wants to limit the trains’ speed to 40 kilometers per hour. Thereby, they hope to increase safety and reduce the inconvenience to the residents.
