The Máxima Medical Centre in Eindhoven and Veldhoven is going to take part in a pilot project on integrated childbirth care. In simple terms, this means that the hospitals involved have committed to improving the quality of mother and child care before, during and just after pregnancy.
Infant mortality in the Netherlands is relatively high, as compared with other European countries. In cooperation with the Elkerliek Hospital in Helmond, the hospitals want to offer tailor-made care for pregnant women.
In the trial, several medical specialisms are united, such as obstetricians, gynaecologists, pediatricians and maternity nurses. Health insurance companies CZ and VGZ support the test.
