Woensel inhabitants have been complaining about the smell of rotten eggs since Sunday evening. The sewage smell comes from waste water treatment company Ecoflow in Son.
This according to a provincial spokesperson today. The smell was caused by an accidental release of hydrogen sulphide in the waste water basin during the purification process.
Environmental Services Noord-Brabant received many complaints today. The Service is investigating the origin of the smell, that would not constitute a health hazard. It would only be hazardous to health if large quantities are inhaled.
Ecoflow’s site has been closed and staff is not allowed near the water basin.
