The Eindhoven municipality must ensure that there will be no redundancies at Korein Kinderplein (children daycare center). Korein is possibly going to work together with the Skar Group in Arnhem, as a result of the falling demand for childcare. There is a risk, however, that this collaboration may result in people being fired.
The Eindhoven PvdA (Labour Party) is concerned about this. Hafid Bouteibi has asked questions about it in the City Council. He wanted to know the mayor and aldermen’s views on possible layoffs. Furthermore, he wanted to know how they intend to prevent people being laid off.
Last week Korein announced the possible cooperation. The collaboration should ensure that child care will be cheaper. The idea is that scaling up reduces overhead costs and thus saves money.
The money saved will then be used to improve services and develop new forms of care.
The two child care organizations intend to figure out whether their cooperation is feasible before the summer holidays.
