TU/e students to build largest igloo

A group of TU/e students is going to Finland for their graduation project: building the largest igloo ever.

Jorrit Hijl and Roel Pluijmen, together with their team, are going to the Finnish town of Juuka. These twenty-five people are going to build an igloo. A large balloon -the mold- will be covered by a thirty-centimetre thick layer of ice. The ice is made up of snow, water and saw-dust, which makes the ice thicker and stronger.

The students are leaving on 29 December and have a week to test and prepare the project. The igloo should be ten meters high and thirty meters in diameter.
