Self-exam for cervical cancer nominated

Eindhoven design agency Van Berlo has been nominated for the Accenture Innovation Awards with their Delphi Screener. The device allows women to self-screen for cervical cancer.

World-wide, about 500,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year. In the Netherlands, half of the cases go unnoticed.

The conventional pap smear screening is unpleasant for women; therefore, many avoid having pap tests. The Delphi Screener is painless.

Gynaecologist Maarten Wiegerinck invented the Delphi Screener.
