Eindhoven Airport plays an important role in human trafficking, according to Leon Slegers of the military police at Eindhoven Airport. Last year there were 31 specific cases of human trafficking at the airport, reports ‘Omroep Brabant’.
According to Slegers, this is just the tip of the iceberg, due to the fact that human trafficking is very difficult to prove. The smaller airports are more attractive to traffickers because of economical travel prices. For a relatively low cost, people can be brought to the Netherlands. Eindhoven Airport’s location, close to the Belgium and German border, also makes the airport more attractive. Source: http://www.dichtbij.nl/eindhoven/regio/artikel/2773742
