BEST – The company Verano from Best has dragged a mega order. It provides sun blinds for the new landmark of London, The Shard. The skyscraper under construction will be the highest in Europe. Verano therefore had to make 5000 blinds.
The Shard (The Scherf) is a building with lots of glass, designed by an Italian architect. “The sun blinds are not allowed to be a prominent image. Because the building is the focal point,” says director Henk Altena of Verano.According to director Altena, there is an additional Dutch touch to their product on the highest building of Europe. Altena: “All blinds are orange and the fabric has a quiet tone. But because of that you still get a bit of an orange glow.”The building has 72 floors and is 310 meters high. There will be offices, apartments, restaurants and a hotel. On July 5th, the building will be opened officially.Source: Omroep Brabant
