“Mr Peña is a virtuoso capable of dazzling an audience beyond the frets of mortal man”, thus the New York Times, and we couldn’t agree more. Over the past couple of years, Paco Peña, as a guitarist, composer, dramaturge, and artistic leader, has helped to shape the Spanish art form of flamenco. In his newest and very personal show Patrias, Peña honours the works and life of the Spanish writer and playwright Federico García Lorca (1898-1936); a writer whose name is inextricably linked to the Spanish Civil war (1936-1939). Accompanied by intriguing footage, numerous flamenco dancers, and his musicians, Peña takes us on a historical journey to the Spain of the 1930s.
