International Women’s day in Eindhoven Library

March 8, 2019 @ 18:00 - 22:00

International Women’s Day: Everyone’s a hero!
“Because you deserve to be the hero of your own life.”

Heroes: Notable, invisible, dead and alive, big and small ones. We all know them, because in every town or village are -or were- heroes present. Heroes who have committed themselves in an exceptional way, fighting for the rights of women, for equality, for their people.

Friday the 8th of March is International Women’s Day. The library of Eindhoven has, in cooperation with Women Inc’s ambassador Carien Kirkels, created an interesting event for women, with the starting point: Everyone’s a hero! After this evening, full of new encounters, information and inspiration you will definitely feel like a hero yourself!

Speakers
Maleka Bent Jamaa from Female Factory will start the night with an inspiring reading. She has been working with women for over 20 years. Remarkable women, unique women, and women with many talents. Yet it seems that most women don’t feel like the ‘Superhero’ of their own lives. It’s her mission to show women that all of the power and wisdom are already present inside. As female empowerment-coach, speaker and inspirator, it is her goal to create awareness and connection.

Ineke Hurkmans, our local hero from Jump Movement, will take care of an unforgettable ‘Jump’. Jump is a simple and accessible conversation method that moves people towards their own or collective ambitions. You’ll be linked to another visitor and you will ‘jump together’. There will be an informal gathering afterwards and a small market where you can get inspired. Jessica Bartels, City Poet of Eindhoven, will be present to present some of her poems and show her poetry skills.

Attention for International Women’s Day is -and remains- important: We will celebrate our acquired rights, but there is still a long way to go when it comes to truly equal treatment. Even in The Netherlands.

Important: This event will be in Dutch, but is also open for non-Dutch speakers. The hand-out of the reading and ‘Jump’ exercises will available in English.
