Metalworking company VDL Group is actively looking for new clients for Nedcar. This is stated in the annual report of the Eindhoven-based family business.
Three years ago VDL saved Nedcar in Born. At that time Mitsubishi stopped car production at the Limburg car factory. The Eindhoven VDL took over the ailing Nedcar and pumped millions in the car factory. This way Nedcar could continue to exist.
After the takeover BMW produced the Mini Hatch there, a three-door car. That turned out to be a success, because the number of employees rose from 1500 to 2500.
According to the ‘Financieel Dagblad’ (financial daily), VDL is going to widen the search. Thereby Nedcar should become less dependent on the German car company. VDL already has contracts with Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Ford. For them the Eindhoven-based group provides automated production lines.
