King Willem Alexander reopens VDL NedCar factory

King Willem Alexander will be at the VDL Nedcar factory in Born on 17 July, for the reopening. This will also mark the launch for construction of the BMW Minis. This has been reported by the VDL group.

In January last year, VDL took over the NedCar Company in Born from Mitsubishi. VDL Director Wim van der Leegte announced at the time of the acquisition that they will be manufacturing Minis for BMW.

Earlier this year, the new Mini to be built was presented and halfway through next month, production will officially begin.
This also entails additional employment; around two thousand extra employees are needed to work at the factory in Born.
