Saturday night, the new Carnival Prince was introduced: Robert d’n Urste (Robert the first). He is going to rule over Lampegat (the name of Eindhoven during Carnival) the year to come.
Lampegat has had city Princes since 1954-1955. Last year, some political parties suggested it was time for a Princess, but the Federatie Eindhovens Carnaval (Federation of Eindhoven Carnival) decided otherwise.
Adjutants Willem Luijbregts and Frank Driessens, as well as Ladies-in-waiting Chantal van der Horst and Micha van Deurzen are part of this year’s ‘Council of 11’.
The motto of the Lampegat Carnaval this year is ‘Mijn lempke goa niet uit’ (my lamp cannot be turned off).
